BUCHU HEALTH
BENEFITS
Buchu is a member of the Cape Floral Kingdom that has been used by indigenous people for centuries as a cure-all natural remedy. But it’s only in recent years that lab results have started to confirm the many health benefits of this aromatic plant.
For a sweeter flavour, we’ve combined buchu with honeybush in our Organic Honeybush & Buchu Tea.
WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF ORGANIC BUCHU TEA?
Antioxidant properties
Flavonoids in buchu include diosmin, rutin and quercitin – all powerful antioxidants that are able to reduce the number of harmful free radicals that damage your body’s healthy cells.

Diuretic
Buchi contains diosphenol, a phytochemical that appears to act by irritating the gallbladder, causing the production of urine. Buchu’s flavonoids also induce urine production.
Gout and Rheumatism
Anti-inflammatory agents in buchu make it a very effective remedy for gout, arthritis and rheumatism.
Digestive system
Buchu has been listed as a digestive tonic to relieve stomach ailments, nausea, diarrhoea and flatulence. It acts as an antispasmodic, so helps with stomach cramps, and period cramps too.
Urinary tract infections
As an anti-inflammatory, buchu is ideal to treat kidney and urinary tract infections, and prostatitis.
Weight loss
Buchu tea is a cleansing herbal tea that flushes out impurities from your digestive system, which can help with weight loss. It also relieves water retention and bloating.

Vitamin source
Buchu is a good source of vitamins A, B, C and E.

Note: Buchu is safe in recommended doses. Avoid drinking the tea during pregnancy as buchu has been linked with miscarriage.
